Alan Syliboy - Meet the Maker

Alan Syliboy, Indigenous author and illustrator with books and artwork sold here at HOME, was born and raised in Truro, Nova Scotia, in the Millbrook First Nation community.

In 1971, he began his arts studies privately with influential artist & activist Shirley Bear. Four years later, he continued his education at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.

He's had numerous accomplishments, such as designing a limited edition Butterfly gold coin for the Canadian Mint which sold out at 25,000 copies, being presented with the Queens Jubilee Gold Medal in 2002, as well as work with CBC and being a juror on the Canadian Council for the Arts. Being internationally recognized for his work, it is our pleasure to say he is from our HOME!

Make sure you check out Alan's studio in Millbrook, at 42 Legends Lane - about 10 minutes from our shop downtown - and look out all around Nova Scotia and beyond for his beautiful murals, artwork, drums, books, and gift items!
